Teaching Philosophy Built on Communication, Confidence & Lifelong Learning

Lindsay’s teaching style has been shaped by more than just music. Before focusing more deeply on music education, she spent over a decade as a professional surfer, surf coach, and youth instructor. Throughout her late teens into her twenties, Lindsay taught students of all ages through programs at Pacific Surf School in San Diego and Surf Happens in Santa Barbara, helping lead surf camps and youth programs. That experience gave her exceptional communication skills, patience, adaptability, and the ability to connect with children and families, which now translates directly into her music lessons.

Who Thrives in Lindsay’s Lessons

Lindsay especially enjoys helping students who are intentional and excited to grow over time. Her ideal student is someone who:
  • Has some previous experience and wants to deepen their understanding of music
  • Enjoys learning both creatively and analytically
  • Wants to strengthen music reading and theory skills
  • Is interested in building confidence through long-term progress
She currently has room to welcome a new guitar student and an experienced piano student and is excited to continue building meaningful student relationships through music. Families interested in supportive In Home lessons can register here to get started.

“Music should feel intentional, expressive, and enjoyable. My goal is to help students build skills they can carry with them for life.” — Lindsay Hingst
