Portland Piano Lessons

Our Portland piano instructors are accomplished musicians with extensive teaching experience and a passion for sharing their musical knowledge. We offer comprehensive piano education for all ages, adapting our methods to suit each student’s learning style and musical aspirations.

Children across Portland benefit from our engaging, age-appropriate instruction. Our teachers make lessons enjoyable while building essential skills, theory knowledge and proper technique.

Angie Mead, music teacher

Portland adults love our flexible approach to piano education. Whether you are a complete beginner or returning after years away, our instructors create personalized lesson plans that fit your schedule, musical preferences and pace — from classical repertoire to contemporary styles, jazz improvisation to music theory.

Our Portland guitar teachers bring versatile expertise in a range of styles and techniques to your doorstep. Whether you are interested in acoustic, electric or classical guitar, we provide comprehensive instruction focused on technique, music reading, theory and performance.

Young guitar students throughout Portland enjoy our interactive approach. Our teachers work with children as young as 6, using methods that maintain interest while establishing good playing habits.

Portland has a long tradition of singers, songwriters, performers, and musicians who use their voices as instruments of expression. Our voice teachers bring that same spirit into every lesson, helping students develop breath control, pitch, tone, range, and confidence without losing what makes their voice uniquely theirs. Rather than trying to make every singer sound the same, our instructors build lessons around the music each student actually loves to sing.
For children, voice lessons can be a powerful way to build confidence as well as musical ability. Our Portland voice teachers use age-appropriate exercises and songs to help young singers develop healthy technique while keeping lessons playful and encouraging. Because lessons happen in the student’s home, children can learn in a familiar environment where they feel comfortable experimenting with their voice and finding their own sound.  Read More

Portland Music Lesson FAQs

How much do lessons cost?

Lessons are $75 per week, with a half-price trial lesson for new students. Weekly lessons provide the consistency that helps students build confidence, develop strong musical skills, and make steady progress over time.

What happens if we need to reschedule?

We understand that life gets busy. If you let us know at least 24 hours in advance, we’ll happily reschedule your lesson at no additional charge. Our goal is to make music lessons fit your family’s schedule whenever possible.

Do I need to own an instrument before starting?

Having an instrument at home is the best way to get the most out of lessons, but if you’re still deciding what to buy, we’re happy to help. We can recommend trusted local music stores, rental options, and the right instrument based on your student’s age, goals, and budget.

How are teachers matched?

We don’t simply assign the next available teacher. Every family is personally matched based on the student’s age, musical interests, personality, learning style, experience level, scheduling needs, location, and the teacher’s strengths and teaching style. Our goal is to create a relationship where students feel comfortable, stay motivated, and continue learning for years.

Can siblings take lessons?

Absolutely! Many families schedule siblings back-to-back on the same day for added convenience. For younger siblings, it’s often a very cost-effective option to share a one-hour lesson, allowing each child to receive individual attention while also learning together during portions of the lesson. This works especially well for beginners close in age.

Who do you teach?

Students from around age 5 or 6 through adulthood. If the curiosity is there, we have a teacher for it.

Do you cover all of Portland?

Yes. We serve neighborhoods throughout Portland and surrounding Multnomah County communities.

What about instruments?

We don’t sell or rent instruments directly, but we know the local landscape well. King’s Keyboard House is an excellent starting point for piano, and Oz’s Music or Music Go Round are great options for guitar.

Do you teach ukulele?

We do. It’s one of our most requested instruments and a wonderful starting point for younger students.
