Since a young age, I have used music as a lense through which I viewed the world, learned about myself and others, and built community and friendship. I started playing the guitar through a middle school program in my Midwest hometown where kids were taught american history through learning the blues. In the last 18 years of learning the guitar, I have picked up piano, ukulele, and drums along the way.
My musical taste is across the spectrum, but I take special interest in jazz, R&B, soul, indie rock, and folk music. Some favorites include Bon Iver, Andrew Bird, haitus Kaiyote, Curtis mayfield, bill evans, etc.
I work as a teacher and recreational therapist, and I have a lot of experience teaching in public schools and other settings. I really hope to help the students I have develop technical skills, but most important a fun and engaging relationship with an instrument and a reciprocal love language with music.
