What's the Piano Adventure all About?

Imagine your child sitting at those black and white keys, creating beautiful melodies that fill your home with joy! Piano isn’t just an instrument—it’s a magical gateway to self-expression, discipline, and FUN! At our school, we believe learning piano should feel challenging, rewarding, and something they’ll look forward to every single week!

The Piano Journey: What to Expect

Week 1-4: Getting Our Bearings! During these first few weeks, your child will learn the basics—finding Middle C (our home base!), proper posture (sit up tall like a tree!), and maybe even play their first simple tune! They’ll come home excited about their new adventure, probably showing off “Hot Cross Buns” at EVERY opportunity!

Months 2-6: Building Our Skills Camp! This is when the real work begins—but don’t worry, we make it FUN! Your child will start reading music (like decoding a cool secret language), learn scales (our musical building blocks!), and play increasingly complex songs. Some days they’ll rush to practice, other days… not so much. That’s TOTALLY NORMAL, friends!

The Practice Scoop

Let’s have a real talk about practice, parents! It takes time and patience to get good at piano:

How long? Start with 10-15 minutes for younger kiddos (ages 5-7), building to 20-30 minutes for older beginners. Quality beats quantity EVERY TIME!
How often? Aim for 5 days a week! Better to practice 15 minutes five times than cram it all into one mega-session before lessons (we can TOTALLY tell when that happens—wink!).
The Practice Rollercoaster: Some days will be AWESOME with your child begging to play longer. Other days might involve some gentle encouragement (or straight-up negotiation). This is all part of the journey!

When the Trail Gets Rocky

Let’s be real—there WILL be moments of frustration:

The week they just CAN’T get that tricky passage right
The day they’d rather do ANYTHING but practice
The “I want to quit” phase (almost everyone hits this at some point!)

These moments aren’t setbacks—they’re opportunities for GROWTH! Our teachers are experts at helping kids push through these challenges, finding creative solutions and reconnecting with what made piano exciting in the first place!
